facility
Called Halifax’s most innovative visual arts venue to date, Creative Crossing has revived an 1898 building from its original function as O’Malley’s Bakery to a contemporary cultural destination. Renewing this historic site was undertaken with careful integration of the original structure. The extraordinary 18 foot ceilings, incredible abundance of natural light and factory charm are maintained yet amplified by a reflective modernization. Improvements include polished wood floors, exposed brick and beams, generous wood-trimmed windows, ambient and directional lighting, and studio lofts, as well as the addition of street level retail shops, a reception area with kitchen and bar, a rooftop patio, an interior courtyard, and the gallery.

° Studio Offices
Each of the seven multipurpose studio/office spaces at Creative Crossing is unique. All feature revitalized hardwood floors, large top and bottom opening windows, and ample electricity access. Sizes range from 250 to 750 square feet.

° Studio Lofts
The four studios with lofts, due to their careful transformation from warehouse to workspace, offer exceptional freedom of height (18 feet) and natural light rarely found in commercial rental units. Available for solo or shared use, each studio is private and quiet, with an open-concept loft level for added floor space.

° The Commonspace
Sunlight streams through picture windows onto a café table and comfy couches. Down the hall, tenants gather around the bar and kitchen area to eat, drink, swaps ideas and catch up. The common space known as The Gallery @ Creative Crossing is alive from early morning to late evening. It is home to receptions, art exhibits and the occasional performance. Access to the facilities (fridge, sink, microwave, group seating, washrooms, and display area) is open to all Creative Crossings tenants. The area can also be privately booked by tenants for special events.
